Yuki is the protagonist of Placebo report *06 YUKI in The 25th Ward: The Silver Case.

Appearance and Personality[]

Yuki is a withdrawn Japanese high-school student. Her only connections are to her mother, and to "Rina", a dead girl who communicates to Yuki via her cell phone.

Story[]

Yuki (identified in her student ID as Yuki Shimohira, likely connecting her to Ayame Shimohira) is the protagonist of the last chapter in the Placebo storyline near the end of the game. She is first introduced in *06 YUKI, set in 2017, 12 years after the main story, meaning she most likely was not born while the main plot was going on or at least was an infant at the time.

During YUKI, Yuki is seen texting her friend about another girl who "committed suicide" at the train station. Yuki claims to have seen the culprit: a ghostly "zombie girl" that she can see. The "zombie girl" almost kills Yuki by shoving her phone on a train track while a train is coming. An unseen man manages to save Yuki, urging her to leave the station immediately.

After school that day, Yuki decides to track down her phone digitally. She eventually succeeds, finding her phone in a coin locker at Hinashiro Station. Immediately, she is contacted by someone named Slash (Tokio's hacker friend), who she blocks.

Later, at Strike Again Coffee, Yuki is checking her phone regarding the Hinashiro station incidents when a freelancer reporter strikes up a conversation with her. This man, Hiiragi, posits that Yuki can see the dead, or at the very least the "lingering consciousnesses" of the dead. He asks for Yuki's help in stopping the ghost, to which Yuki agrees.

After a failed attempt by Hiiragi to quell the "zombie girl" at Hinashiro Station, the ghost changes form and attacks Yuki. A train arrives in the station just in time for one of its occupants to urge Yuki inside. The occupant introduces himself as Tokio Morishima, and confirms that like Yuki, he can see the ghost and its activities. Tokio warns Yuki to avoid the station from now on, for her safety.

Yuki, bothered by these recent events, talks with Rina over instant messages, where she shares her experiences with the dead and their reactions to her, a living being who can see them. Struck by an epiphany, Yuki contacts Slash and Tokio, with whom she shares her hypothesis. Yuki realizes that she has to do something about the "zombie girl", or she will regret running from the problem. Tokio tells her to meet him at Hinashiro Station next week in order to confront the lingering consciousness.

Yuki takes Morishima's advice

At Hinashiro Station, Yuki and Tokio briefly converse about Rina and Slash, both dead people who have latched onto the living as "alter egos". Tokio advises Yuki that the most important thing to remember when using her power is "determination". The "zombie girl" returns, and Yuki takes this advice into account as she confronts the spirit.

After resolving the crisis, Yuki heads to Strike Again Coffee, where Rina asks her what they will do now; Yuki's only answer is to smile at the question.
