The Tsubaki (椿) is a weapon in the video game No More Heroes. It is a beam katana prototype designed by Dr. Naomi for Travis Touchdown's exclusive use. It provides better durability than Touchdown's first weapon, the Blood Berry, which the Tsubaki prototype's design is comparable to in several ways, such as both models making use of an extractable frame and receiver, headed by a pointed blade attachment. One notable difference between the Tsubaki and the Blood Berry is that the Tsubaki does not feature a guide bar. This particular katana is fairly unique among the rest, in that it combines Beat Attacks with standard slashes, giving several opportunities to use wrestling moves. Being the first make in the Tsubaki line, the beam katana's receiver is marked by one red ring.
The beam katana itself is based on the Japanese genus of camellia, which are red and white in color. The Tsubaki is succeeded by Mk-II and Mk-III models, and furthermore this is the only line of beam katanas compatible with Power Up Parts and Energy Saving Parts Dr. Naomi stocks in her lab. Once designed, Naomi sells the Tsubaki for LB$98,000.
