Request 08: Ave Maria is the ninth scenario in Flower, Sun, and Rain. It features Sumio Mondo solving the problems of the couple Yuuri Otowaya and Seiji Fujieda.
Summary[]
Sumio wakes up being called by Edo Macalister again. His muscles are sore. Edo suggests relaxing, but Sumio rightfully says he can't with all the stuff Edo makes him do. Edo thinks Sumio's personality has changed a bit, but this could be his imagination. Anyway, it is coffee time again.
Taking his first sip Sumio instantaneously remembers Shoutero Kai and is sour he was basically tricked babysitting him. He still feels a bit sorry for him though despite his bad manners.
After coffee Sumio makes is way to the Front Desk again and rings for Edo. He wants to know where the breakfast is he was offered every day. It seems Sumio is too late as they stopped serving breakfast already. Not satisfied with this service, he tries to get to the airport again.
He goes outside, crosses the bridge and actually manages to get out of the hotel grounds this time. On the main road a gate with a big bell above it is blocking his way. It seems he has to take a detour.
The road which is not blocked leads him to a church. Before going in he spots a woman sitting on a bench next to the church. She looks a little down and he decides to ask her what's wrong. She indeed is a bit depressed. She says her name is Yuuri and that she is going to get married. Sumio is a bit surprised that she is depressed about it, so Yuuri tells him to sit down while she explains the reason. Her fiancee Seiji planned the wedding on Lospass Island but is apparently acting very strange since they arrived. He seems distant, so Yuuri asks Sumio if he can talk with Seiji. He's hesitant to get involved, but Yuuri keeps begging. He agrees after all, Seiji should be found in the church.
He sits all by himself in the left front row. Sumio approaches him and introduces himself. He tells Sumio he starts getting scared as the wedding is tomorrow already. He says he actually was against the idea to get married in a church, but Yuuri insisted. He is slowly losing confidence about the marriage as well. He changes the subject saying he played on the organ to try it out, but he hates the sound of his organ playing despite it actually sounding good to Sumio's ears. He states that if he would be able to play it well, he surely would find the confidence to make Yuuri happy. Sumio thinks that it is pretty pathetic leaving this to the organ. Seiji tried to tune the organ because of the sound but he lost the registration paper for adjusting the tonal pitch. Sumio decides to help him tune the organ for Yuuki's sake.
He remembers that there was a page in the guidebook about the organ and it even explains how to tune it in its original dulciana organ setting. This should be easy. He gets Catherine to jack into the organ and starts to tune it.
After successfully tuning it, Seiji starts to play the organ and the song is carried through the whole church and the surroundings. Seiji is very pleased with the outcome and invites Sumio to their wedding. He promises to attend and leaves the church. Fuuyi already stands in front of it and Sumio tells her the good news and she instantly feels better. She gives him a bit of a back story on how they met as they both were raised in an orphanage.
After mentioning that Sumio has already been invited to the wedding, Yuuri says that it is impossible for him to attend as it is just going to be the two of them. Nobody will attend, not even the other people of the orphanage as they are all dead anyway. Surprised Sumio asks where they were raised and Yuuri tells him in the Shelter as they are Shelter Kids.
After this reveal they both hear a plane appear above the church. It explodes.
A little bit later Toriko Kusabi is still looking for Christina on the main road outside the hotel surroundings. The big bell rings as she sees Seiji and Yuuri standing under the gate getting married. She congratulates them and they ask if they have her blessing while Christina is outside next to the three of them.
☆Welcome back.☆Oh, what a lovely couple.☆I gave them a helping hand, too.☆I held up the train on Yuuri's wedding dress.☆I'm quite exhausted... After all I had to train very hard!☆I need to get breakfast ready.☆I shall be waiting with a smile at the Front Desk.☆
